Preparation for modeling session
There are several suggestions to consider when getting ready for a modeling session. Feel free to read through all of
them. They will help you to prepare yourself, save your time and mine and create a very memorable experience.
Clothing:
1. Avoid large, bold patterns or broad stripes. They draw attention from your face.
2. Avoid white colored clothing. It tends to give the impression of more weight and it may also create problems in
certain lighting situations.
3. Very small logos are acceptable, although I would ask to wear clothing items without any logos at all. Large logos,
graphics, signs or numbers are very distracting, create copyright issues and should always be avoided.
4. If this is a group session you will be asked to wear a specific color or style so that all the models would blend
together.
5. Make sure your wardrobe is clean and well pressed.
6. Shoes - anything that suits your wardrobe.
Make-up:
1. If you use make-up, wear it as you normally would at daytime. Facial shine may be corrected during the post
processing but it should be avoided if possible. So using some translucent powder would be good.
2. Lip gloss adds some extra sparkle and looks good in a portrait.
3. Do not worry if you have acne or blemishes on the day of the session. Those little imperfections may be retouched.
4. Nails - clean and not bitten. (It shouldn't be mentioned but I've had some bad experiences).
Jewelry:
Jewelry should be kept simple. Try not to bring large earrings, thick chains, large watches, etc.
You will be required to sign a model release and if you are under 18, have a parent or a guardian sign it.
And most importantly, you will be required to bring a good spirit, great attitude and have fun!
